Local NewsFirst Look Inside New Pabst Brewery ComplexBy Katie DeLong
MILWAUKEE – TODAY’S TMJ4 got a first look inside the new Pabst Brewery Complex Tuesday.
Tenants will move in in the next couple of weeks.
Despite the gloomy economy, there is a lot of development underway in Milwaukee.
Tuesday, developers broke ground on a 900 car garage on the grounds of the old Pabst Brewery. City officials say it’s one of many exciting projects underay.
Developer Max Dermond and his partners spent $7 million to transform the building into sleek modern office space.
“We are excited about this,” Dermond said.
Workers broke ground on a parking garage Tuesday. There are dozens of building projects underway in downtown Milwaukee.
“It represents the rebirth of 21 acres of downtown Milwaukee that’s now going to be a part of the fabric of downtown,” Rocky Marcoux from the Department of City Development said.
Marcoux says developers are spending $800 million to build condos, hotels, retail and office space near the old brewery line.
He says despite the tough economic times, the building boom is creating hundreds of jobs and at the same time transforming the city.
“Milwaukee is in the midst of an urban renaissance, and it’s very exciting,” Marcoux said.
In addition to office space and a parking garage, there will also be apartments. They'll open up at the beginning of the year.
