  • Print
MILWAUKEE - Ava and Ethan are in. Again. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has released a list of the most popular names given to newborns last year. Ava was No. 1 for female babies born in Wisconsin. Ethan topped the list for boys. Those also were the most popular names in 2006. Names starting with vowels were big for girls. They accounted for nine of the top 10 last year. In order, following Ava were: Emma, Olivia, Sophia, Addison, Isabella, Emily, Ella, Elizabeth and Abigail. Sophia and Addison were new in 2007, replacing Hannah and Grace. Rounding out the list for boys were Jacob, Logan, Mason, Alexander, Noah, Jack, Owen, Benjamin and Tyler. Jack was the only new name in 2007. It replaced the long popular Michael.
