Voter Traffic Steady At Donges Bay School

MEQUON – With about three hours left until the polls closed on Election Day Tuesday, a record turnout was expected in Wisconsin. A record number of people voted absentee, and that reduced the amount of time some people had to wait in line Tuesday. TODAY’S TMJ4’s Ty Milburn was at Donges Bay School in Mequon Tuesday, where voter traffic was steady, but was picking up quite a bit as folks were coming to vote after work. Elections officials at Donges Bay School say like a lot of places they are expecting record voter turnout this year in Mequon. Voters were enthusiastic when coming in to cast their ballot. They say they are happy to vote in this historic election, and even happier that after two yeas, it is coming to an end. “It's good that it’s over,” Steffan Dermond said. “I was glad I won't see all of the campaign commercials and I won’t be inundated with everything political so I am glad to see it come to an end,” Patty Buckley said. Officials say the sheer number of absentee voters is driving up their numbers. This year, they say voter turnout could be double turnout in 2004.
