MILWAUKEE – The early voting lines at the Zeidler Building in downtown Milwaukee were long Friday, but they were even longer Monday, on the last day of early voting. TODAY’S TMJ4’s Ty Milburn was downtown Monday afternoon, where every vote Monday set a new record for early voting. There were hundreds of people in line Monday afternoon, and the wait was between an hour and a half and two hours. Elections officials were saying Monday afternoon voters might want to wait at the polls Tuesday, versus trying to vote early Monday. One voter in line said she didn’t mind waiting. TODAY’S TMJ4’s Ty Milburn: “Why not just vote tomorrow?” ”Well I didn’t want to take that risk. I wanted to make sure. I don’t mind waiting. It’s worth the wait,” one voter said. Elections officials say the lines should be shorter at the polls Tuesday. They say 27,000 people have voted early and 15,000 have voted absentee. They expect 268,000 will vote Tuesday. They say, bring your patience, and come early! The polls open at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday. Early voting continues until 5:00 p.m. Monday.
