Jury Finds Falk Responsible For Explosion
By Associated Press
MILWAUKEE - A jury says a Milwaukee manufacturer is mostly responsible for a deadly propane explosion at its plant and not eligible for damages.
The December 2006 blast at the Falk Corp. killed three people and did $72 million in damage.
Falk blamed mechanical contractor J.M. Brennan, which installed the pipe in 1988, and with its insurance company, sued for $68 million.
But a Milwaukee County jury ruled Friday that Falk was 95 percent responsible and J.M. Brennan was only 5 percent responsible. That means J.M. Brennan doesn't have to pay.
A spokesman for Falk's parent company issued a statement saying Falk was disappointed but respects the jury's decision. Evan Zeppos also says Falk will look at the decision to see if more legal action is warranted.
