Local NewsMom Starts School Bus FightBy Katie DeLong
BROOKFIELD - A shocking story from Waukesha County: a mother gets into a fight on her daughter's school bus!
The fight happened right outside Brookfield East High School during dismissal.
The victim is a 15-year-old girl who attends Brookfield Central. She was arguing with a 16-year-old girl who attends Brookfield East. The two were bussed in from Milwaukee, and their disagreement was apparently not over school rivalry.
"The one girl, who we call the suspect in the matter, she felt that she had been teased or disrespected by the other girl," Brookfield Police Cpt. Phil Hortor said.
The suspect apparently called her mom, who showed up at the school, angry.
"She got on the bus and according to our reports and the people that we talked to, she was involved in both striking the victim and pulling the hair of the victim," Cpt. Hortor said.
The mom and daughter were arrested at the school on September 10. Mom will be charged with child abuse, her daughter with battery.
Students at East High School can't believe it, and think the mom was acting foolishly and childishly.
"I guess it's just a little weird that the mother would get on the bus and start attacking another student from another school," Brookfield East student Drew Hrorbar said.
"Kids get into fights all the time, but I'm really surprised by the parents. You'd think that if the parent is going to interfere, it should be to try to diffuse the situation, not to make it worse," Jenae Noel said.
The 16-year-old girl has been suspended for some time from East High School. As for the victim, her injuries are minor.
