Three Arrested In Kenosha Murder Over Xbox

By Katie DeLong

KENOSHA – Kenosha Police Chief John Morrissey expressed some powerful words Thursday in a press conference regarding the murder of 51-year-old Kenosha resident Capri Walker. It happened at Walker’s home in the 1400 block of 71st Street. Police arrested two teens, ages 14 and 15 who they expect will be charged with murder, and a 20 year old man who they believe helped plan the crime. One of those teens lived next door to Walker. Police say Walker was murdered Sunday morning when the two teens broke into Walker’s home to steal an Xbox and other items. Police say Walker interrupted them, and she was then beaten to death. Her boyfriend came home from work and found hear dead. "It appears that she did interrupt what they were doing and they responded by killing her," Kenosha Police Sgt. Hugh Rafferty said Wednesday. An anonymous tip caller helped police make the arrests in the case by providing names and some of the stolen property. Police say they have recovered most of the property and the weapon used in Walker’s murder. They also say all three suspects taken into custody are known to police. They cannot get into any background on the teens because they are juveniles. Walker’s son also spoke Thursday during the press conference, and he said if there’s something people should know about his mom, it’s that they should light a candle in her memory, because that is what she always did when a friend or family member passed away. Walker's friends and family lit candles Wednesday in front of the crime scene. They're remembering Walker as a woman who cared a lot for other people. Walker’s son was there, as well as women from the Compassionate Friends Support Group. It's a group Walker belonged to, for parents who have experienced the death of a child. Walker’s friend Kim Bell said she was angry that it happened over an Xbox. "I'm very upset with what happened to Capri. She means a lot to me,” Bell said. People in the neighborhood are stunned that one of the suspects lived next door. His family was evicted Monday. The other suspect is that boy's cousin, who does not live in the neighborhood. “It's a pathetic case from any way that you look at it, but it's even more so when you consider the relatively cheap material things that were sought after in this,” Sgt. Rafferty said. The teenage boys are expected to be in court Thursday. The Kenosha Police Department plans to ask the district attorney for first degree murder charges.
