Local NewsPolice Impersonator Spotted In GraftonBy Katie DeLong
GRAFTON - A guy dressed up as a police officer robbed the Home Depot on Port Washington Road.
There have now been more than ten of these cases, and police say stores need to be on the lookout.
The man wears a phony police outfit and lies and says he's an officer to try and steal.
Surveillance video shows the suspect in a similar case at Borders near Southridge Mall in Greendale. The same man is believed to be connected to robberies or attempted robberies in Milwaukee, West Allis, Brookfield and Hales Corners.
Police don't know yet if the suspect in this Grafton case is the same man or a copy-cat.
The description is similar, but the clothing and hair color are different. Grafton police warned the other stores near the Home Depot Thursday.
“The police department and the community, be it the business community or the citizens, need to work in concert. It's very important that the communication be both ways, and I'm very certain that through communication, that the suspect will be identified and an arrest will be made,” Grafton Police Chief Charles Wenten said.
The man didn't get away with anything from the Home Depot store. Now, Home Depot says they're working with the police to help with the investigation.
If you have any information, you’re asked to call police.
