Local NewsFavre Makes Jets DebutBy Jay Olstad
MILWAUKEE - Wes and Stacy Kornuth have always bled green, just not this shade.
"It is weird, it is really strange," Stacy said.
These life-long Packers fans spent the day at Champps in Brookfield, not cheering on the Packers, but the guy who used to lead them.
"Why the Packers don't sign someone like that, it just blows my mind," Wes said.
Believe it or not, that's why they no longer support the Packers, and they're not the only ones who feel that way.
"I have to support Favre until he's really officially done with his wonderful career," Jill Behrens said.
What a difference 20 minutes east makes. At Fanatics Sports Bar in Milwaukee, Favre is great, but the Packers are better.
"I would have to pick the Packers all the way," Shane Sawyer said.
John Heimerman agrees, despite the fact he's still wearing his old Favre jersey.
"I think everyone is still going to be watching the Packers this year," Heimerman said.
Although Favre is no longer playing for the Packers, he's definitely playing up the bottom line.
"It's busier because of the Favre game. People have been waiting all year since he was traded to see what he's going to look like in a Jets uniform," Champps manager Courtney Cook said.
Champps, along with a lot of other sports bars will be playing Packers and Jets games all year.
So it appears good business is color blind, and from the looks of it, some Packers fans are too.
"I've never purchased an NFL jersey until this year. I got to support Favre," Wes Kornuth said.
