Local NewsMother, Kids Witness Home Invasion MurderBy Ty Milburn
RACINE - A Racine man was shot several times early Wednesday morning and died.
What's worse: his mother, his girlfriend and his two small children were in the home when it happened.
Police describe the murder as bold and brazen. They say two armed men wearing masks broke into a home at 3315 Victory Avenue searching for 28-year-old Terrence Miller. When they found him, police say they killed him.
"All I heard was screaming and that screaming gets the best of you," neighbor Trudie Cudney said.
Police said the killer demanded money from Miller and then shot him in the face and upper body several times while his mother watched.
Miller's girlfriend and their two children, ages 4 and 8 years old, were also in the home at the time.
Investigators said this was no random act. They believe Miller was the intended target and they say the home invasion was likely drug related.
Even though police said neighbors are not in any danger, folks who TODAY’S TMJ4 talked to said they won't feel safe until these killers are off the street.
“It is scary because I have kids at home. It’s scary when you've got these little ones and then you're wondering who's going to be the next one,” Cudney said.
Police say they do not have any suspects in custody or leads. They don't even have any descriptions of the suspects. They hope to do more interviews which they hope will bring them closer to finding the killers.
