Town Of Erin Residents Watching The Skies
By Katie DeLong
WASHINGTON COUNTY – More rain is in the forecast this weekend. That’s not welcome news in one Washington County community.
Seven weeks after the June flooding, people in the Town of Erin are still cleaning up. They are hoping to get the cleanup done before more rain comes.
“There’s no place for it to drain,” Tom Tiedyman said.
Tiedyman and his family have had enough of the rain.
“If it rains more than five minutes, we’re going to start flooding,” Tiedyman said.
He says the June floods were devastating to homeowners living along Druid Lake. Dozens of homes flooded and even his boat house was almost under water.
”It was two feet of water for two weeks,” Tiedyman said.
As homeowners in Erin try to get things back to normal, there is more rain in the forecast this weekend. Tiedyman is taking precautions.
“We’re ready to start blocking the refrigerators up so they don’t get ruined,” Tiedyman said.
After a summer like this, he says people in Erin are reconsidering lake living.
Everyone is ready to move. I think there are more houses for sale now,” Tiedyman said.
Tiedyman says he will be watching the sky all weekend long, hoping the rain stays away.
