WAUWATOSA - Seven cars were damaged by flames during a fire in a parking lot at Mayfair Mall Saturday afternoon. Click on the link under related content to see video from the scene. Wauwatosa fire officials said the fire started in the engine of one of the parked cars. The driver parked it in the lot, noticed smoke and then fire in the engine. "They even commented that when they had shut the hood the fire kind of came out the front of the car," said Jeff Hevey of the Wauwatosa Fire Department. Strong wind fanned the fire, blowing the flames toward other nearby vehicles. "It was pretty dramatic, it was pretty bad," Joe Cannizzo said. Cannizzo saw his car and six others, on fire in the Mayfair mall parking lot. His bumper was damaged. Others weren't so lucky. Steve Holliger was looking at his brand new, charred, beamer. "Actually it looks like not only is the back end blown out but the whole passenger side is charred, (the) windows are blown out," Hollinger said. Not how Holliger expected his day at the mall to end. "It's definitely upsetting, inconvenient, and don't know what I'm going to do yet," Hollinger said. All that's left of the fire now, is charred ground and an estimated $35,000 in damages for car owners.
