Local NewsRaw Video: FEMA Tours Damage At Lake DeltonBy Katie DeLong
LAKE DELTON – FEMA officials toured the flooding damage at Lake Delton in the Wisconsin Dells Thursday.
The lake drained and several homes were washed away this week.
FEMA officials toured devastated Sauk County Thursday to decide how much, if any, federal aid should be given to the victims at Lake Delton
People in Lake Delton are doing what they can to survive after raging storm waters breached the shore and emptied the lake.
Delton Oaks Resort Owner Kate Pettit says making ends meet is going to be tough without summer tourists.
“I guess we'll have to make adjustments, tighten belts, extend mortgages, that sort of thing. Whatever we can come up with,” Pettit said.

Pettit is hoping FEMA can help. They toured Sauk and Columbia counties Thursday to assess the damage.
“If this is not a disaster area, I don't know what is,” Pettit said.
Thursday’s heavy rain is absolutely devastating to those down the river from Lake Delton. Portage is already saturated with the water that used to fill Lake Delton. They, too, are relying on Thursday’s FEMA tour to deliver aid.
“We look at how many people have insurance, how many people have homeowner’s insurance versus flood insurance. We also look at special needs cases,” a FEMA representative said Thursday.
FEMA won't say when they'll make their decision, but Pettit hopes it's soon.
TODAY’S TMJ4’s Heather Shannon: “If they decide, no this isn't a federal disaster area, what will that mean to you and the other resort owners on the lake?"
"We'll all suffer greatly. It's going to be a really hard, tough year if that happens,” Pettit said.
Once FEMA decides whether it will be eligible, President Bush would still have to okay it.
