Nose Gear Collapse At Mitchell Airport

By Sean O'Flaherty

MILWAUKEE - The nose gear collapsed on a Beech Baron aircraft as it taxied after landing at Mitchell Airport on Saturday morning. The airport was closed for about 15 minutes. The incident started about 10 a.m. as the aircraft was approaching the airport. The pilot alerted the tower that onboard sensors showed there was a problem with the landing gear. However, visual inspection showed the landing gear was down. The pilot landed the plane safely, but the forward landing gear failed as the plane taxied and the plane fell on its nose. Airport fire crews surrounded the damaged plane. One person onboard was treated for shortness of breath. The plane is registered to West Bend Air Inc.
