Rosendale: Just The Ticket

ROSENDALE - At the BP station in the heart of this tiny town you can buy yourself an interesting sweatshirt. The shirt features a rendering of a police squad car and the slogan “Rosendale, Just The Ticket!” “The town is notorious for it,” says Diane Fenske of the Rosendale Police Department’s penchant for ticketing speeders. “That’s how they generate most of their revenue in this town,” says James Weed. According to the National Motorist’s Association, Rosendale is the most likely spot to get a speeding ticket in Wisconsin. The organization ranks Milwaukee, Waukesha and Appleton as top ticket havens too. Residents here may joke about the tickets and even poke fun at themselves with sweatshirts, but they support the efforts of law enforcement to get lead foot drivers to let up. “They need to slow down,” Fenske says. “They really have to slow down.”
