SILVER LAKE - Eighteen-year old John Greeley was challenged to run across the frozen Silver Lake, completely naked, for $300. Unfortunately for him, Greeley ended up with almost $800 in fines when the police showed up at his door. The Greeley family has a tradition of doing crazy things for a bet. So when John Greeley's father challenged him to run naked across the lake behind their home, he took the challenge. Besides, his father and uncle made the same bet 20 years ago. John made the 10-minute run across Silver Lake in broad daylight, with nothing but his socks on. "If feels kind of weird being that exposed, with nothing around you. It was just me, the ice, and my destination," Greeley said. But Greeley had some bad luck. A Kenosha County Sheriff's Deputy just happened to see the whole thing from a boat launch on the lakefront. "I was met by four police cars and six police officers, and I got a $750 citation," Greeley said. John was cited for lewd and lascivious behavior. His dad and uncle made the same streaking bet at the same lake 20 years ago, but they didn't get caught. "He thinks it's funny, but he thinks the consequences don't meet up with the crime," Greeley said. John says he won't streak again. But he may do something else crazy, if the price is right. "I wouldn't recommend it, but it was fun," he said. John Greeley used the $300 he won to pay off the fine. His dad covered the rest. Unfortunately, John didn't get anything out of this except for a pretty good story.
