Jensen Trial: Restaurant Workers Await Verdict

By Katie DeLong

ELKHORN – In the wife poisoning trial in Walworth County, the jury is in its second day of deliberations. The jury is deciding if Mark Jensen poisoned his wife ten years ago, or if Julie Jensen committed suicide and tried to blame her husband. The case has drawn national attention and means big business for some people. The trial has brought on so much attention that now, workers of a local restaurant are also impatiently waiting a verdict. I'll be interested to see how it comes out. Kelli Garecht hadn't paid attention to the Mark Jensen trial until people involved in the case started frequenting her Elkhorn restaurant. “We do a lot of to-go's and we had the jury in here,” Moose Creek Restaurant’s Kelli Garecht said. Moose Creek Bar and Grill has been very busy over the last seven weeks. “It's very sad and I don't like that we've had business because of this woman's unfortunate passing,” Moose Creek Restaurant’s Chloe Arnez said. The workers admit it's hard to ignore…with all the traffic they've had in and out of the restaurant. The back room at Moose Creek has been used a lot by members of the trial to eat lunch and to also find a little bit of seclusion “They've come back here just to use the room for privacy,” Moose Creek Restaurant’s Kelli Garecht said. To avoid the TVs that are always on with the latest trial updates. “We've had the TV on pretty much all day at work. Maybe her family can get some peace of mind."
