Local NewsDriver Causes Two Crashes Within MinutesBy George Mallet
SHEBOYGAN COUNTY - Saturday night Sam Tilton and his friend, Charlie, were driving along Highway 57 when they were nearly killed.
A GMC Jimmy slammed into Sam’s Toyota pickup at full speed after blowing through a stop sign. The collision collapsed the entire front end of Sam’s truck.
“It hit an inch from the passenger side door,” Tilton said, holding his fingers up to indicate the narrow margin of safety. “So if I hadn’t of slowed down, or he would have sped up, or anything different, my best friend Charlie, dead!”
The story doesn’t end there. The GMC continued on around the corner and slammed into another car. Jessica Jamrozy was in that car and suffered a whiplash injury.
“My buddy was real shaken up because he realized he was inches from dying,” a wide-eyed Tilton said.
Police arrested 43-year-old John Huggett of Kewaskum. He is facing a laundry list of charges including two counts of drunk driving and one count of hit and run. Huggett has at least one previous drunk driving arrest.
Tilton had planned to move out west in the days ahead and the loss of his pickup truck has thwarted that plan.
“I’m hoping I’ll collect at least some insurance money,” he said.
