MILWAUKEE - Two Milwaukee police officers were hurt, one student was arrested and a number of students briefly detained at Bradley Tech High School Wednesday. This all happened after two girls got into a fight over a boy. Police and school administrators are still trying to sort out everything that went down at the school Wednesday afternoon. At one point nearly 20 police squads surrounded Bradley Tech. “They started pushing everyone down the hallways, locking everyone in the rooms,” Shaunzel Perez said. Police took several students and put them into police wagons as they worked to sort everything out. “Apparently a fight broke out between two female students…over a boy,” Milwaukee Police Department’s Bobby Lindsey said. Dozens of students heard and saw the commotion and ran through the hallways to watch. Administrators tried to get the students back in the classrooms and they refused so they called police for help. “So when the squad arrived and saw the additional students they called for more squads,” Milwaukee Police Department’s Bobby Lindsey said. After that first fight a second fight broke out inside the school. “Some students jumped my daughter. My son was trying to help her and the security guard pulled him and because he was out of control the police went after him,” Parent Jeanette Hughes said. Arlene Hughes said she didn't even know the students who attacked and left these marks on her. “They just came through the doors,” Student Arlene Hughes said. As officers were trying to break up the fights, two were injured. A student fell on one officer’s hand and another student punched an officer. “Earlier I’m looking at the school I said no it's not out of control I do believe it is out of control,” Parent Jeanette Hughes said. MPS asked police to have a couple extra squad cars and officers at the school Thursday just as a precaution.
