Local NewsMajor Pot Bust Involving Local Teen HangoutBy Lauren Leamanczyk
BUTLER - A local teen hangout has been named in an indictment that details a major investigation into a drug ring.
Thirty one people have been arrested nationwide, including 12 from Milwaukee. The indictment claims they distributed marijuana grown in California to dealers in Milwaukee, Chicago, and other locations.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the indictment describes how nearly 50 pounds of pot per week were sold from the Cream City Skate Park in Butler. The indoor skateboarding park's co-owner Brian McGuinnis is also being charged.
The news shocked parents picking their kids up from skating Friday night.
"I like that he comes here because he's not into drugs or anything and I figured it was a safe place for him to be. Now I'm going to think differently," said Jennifer Fairbanks.
"This is really shocking. My son will not be coming here anymore," Joe Marusik said.
According to documents, the bust began with an investigation into the drug dealing of David LeBlanc, a Shorewood man. In the course of the investigation federal authorities raided homes and seized property in Shorewood and the Riverwest neighborhood of Milwaukee.
