Jensen Trial: Prosecution Wrapping Up
By Katie DeLong
ELKHORN - The prosecution is almost done with its case in the Mark Jensen wife poisoning trial.
That means we'll soon hear from defense witnesses, and hear a different side of the story.
The state is wrapping up their case, so Friday, the defense spent hours trying discredit one of the last prosecution witnesses.
Detective Paul Ratzburg is the leading investigator on the Julie Jensen case.
Friday, Defense Attorney Craig Albee spent several hours trying to convince the jury that Ratzburg's investigation isn't complete, and that they should believe his testimony..
Albee pointed out that Mark Jensen’s home computer was turned on before it was searched for evidence, something investigators are not supposed to be.
Albee also asked about Ratzburg's original thoughts on julie's death.
Defense Attorney Craig Albee: “You also considered that this could be a suicide, right?"
"Correct,” Paul Ratzburg said.
Detecetive Ratzburg also testified Mark Jensen was originally very helpful with their investigation.
Albee says he wouldn't have helped if he was guilty.
Defense Attorney Craig Albee: "On December 3rd, you asked Mark Jensen for consent to search the home, correct?"
"Yes," Ratzburg said.
Albee: “And he signed the consent form correct?"
“True," Ratzburg said.
The district attorney expects to wrap up their case on Monday. The defense will start right after that, and we expect to hear a completely different side of the story.
