Raw Video: Woman Calls 911 To Admit Driving Drunk

By Lauren Leamanczyk

FOX LAKE - A Town of Fox Lake woman is facing a $740 ticket for O.W.I. after calling 911 to turn herself in. Officers checking a 911 hang-up call made from a cell phone early Sunday reached Pat Dykstra, who said her 60-year-old boyfriend had convinced her to call police. Dykstra told TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Lauren Leamanczyk that she was driving home from the bar because her boyfriend was too intoxicated. She says she doesn't know why she let him convince her to call 911. "I'm not sure," she said. "I think I just wasn't really thinking at the time." During the call, she told officers that her boyfriend believed Pat "had too much to drink and shouldn't be driving," according to the Dodge County Sheriff's Department. She even described her vehicle before saying she was heading home. Police later found Dykstra at home. "I was already in my pajamas going to bed," she said. She failed a sobriety test with an estimated .14 blood alcohol content. Police issued Dykstra a ticket for O.W.I. Sheriff Todd Nehls says Dykstra did the right thing by calling them. “I think a judge will look at her and say 'You know what, you stepped up to the plate. You did the right thing.' I think it’s commendable,” he said. Despite all the trouble, Dykstra says she's not sure she regrets the phone call. "It's good in a way," she said. "But if I'd thought about it, it wasn't so good for my driving record."
