Local NewsJensen Trial: Jensen's New Wife TestifiesBy Katie DeLong
ELKHORN - Mark Jensen’s current wife talked about the affair they had in the months leading up to Julie Jensen’s death Tuesday.
Kelly Jensen was Mark Jensen’s mistress at the time of Julie Jensen’s death.
The state is trying to prove that because Mark wanted to be with Kelly, he had a motivation for killing his wife.
Mark and Kelly Jensen got married four years ago.
They met at work in 1998, just a few months before Julie Jensen died.
Kelly lived in St. Louis, but the two began an affair, met up several times, and exchanged hundreds of emails.
The state read a lot of those emails in court Tuesday.
“Here he's saying ‘I really want you and I do love you,’" Attorney Angelina Gabrielle said.
"Yes," Kelly Jensen said.
Many of the emails were very sexual in nature, too sexual to even be read on television.
“A massage today and you tomorrow. How wonderful can my life be?" Gabrielle said, reading an email.
Assistant District Attorney Angelina Gabrielle tried to show the jury that Kelly Jensen, who was also married at the time of the affair, is a home wrecker.
“You and her husband were discussing having a baby while you were having an affair with Mr. Jensen?" Attorney Angelina Gabrielle said.
"Yes," Kelly Jensen said.
"And did he know that you were having an affair?" Gabrielle asked.
"Not to my knowledge, no,” Kelly Jensen said.
Aaron Dillard, Mark Jensen’s former cell mate, also testified Tuesday.
Dillard says Jensen admitted he killed his wife.
The defense argued Dillard read Mark Jensen’s files about the case, and that's how he knew details about Julie Jensen’s death.
The state says Dillard knows a lot of information only the killer could have told him.
