MADISON - The holiday shopping season is underway and do we have a deal for you! Quality diamonds, signed sports cards and other unclaimed property will be on eBay for auction Wednesday. Some of these items are very unique. Thousands of dollars in items are going on sale for practically nothing! “This is our most valuable piece. This is our diamond ballerina ring,” Megan Perkins said. A vintage ring valued at just $3,500. Because it was left in a bank's safe deposit box and unclaimed, it's now property of the state of Wisconsin and so are many other valuable items. “It's everything from Michael Jordan’s card when he played baseball to a signed Ted Williams card which is probably worth a lot of money,” Perkins said. Megan Perkins works for the Treasurer's Office. “99 percent of the time it’s the owner of the box has passed away and didn't let their heirs know they have this safe deposit box,” Perkins said. The best part is you have the chance to buy some of the items. They all go on sale on eBay at noon Wednesday. A lot of them will start at 99 cents, but that doesn’t mean that’s what they’ll sell for. Regardless, Perkins insists you can still get a great get this holiday season. “There will be something for everybody,” Perkins said. Some of the profits from these items help fund school libraries and short term loans for other municipalities.
