Woodson Interception Winds Up In Milwaukee
By George Mallet
KANSAS CITY-- It was one of those exalted Green Bay Packer moments.
Charles Woodson, in a perfectly timed flash of brilliant speed, intercepted a Damon Huard pass. Then he charged unimpeded into the end zone. He locked eyes with Packer fan Nadya Shewczyk and handed her the ball.
“Actually I didn’t even know I could keep the ball,” Shewczyk said, her dark eyes sparkling. “I looked at the ball boy on the sideline and gestured to him. He just nodded his head. Then I knew I could keep the ball.”
Shewczyk, a prominent Milwaukee attorney, took the ball to legal meetings from Kenosha to Cedarburg Monday. She admits the ball and the moment became something of a glorious distraction.
“I really haven’t done very much work today,” she said with a sheepish smile. “Although, I have tried.”
Shewczyk credits her hand-painted sign with the words “Lambeau Leap Here” with attracting Woodson to her corner of the end zone. But that’s not to say she expected the windfall event.
“I never expected in a million years for this to happen,” she said with uncharacteristic breathlessness. “This is a moment people dream about! And when it happens, you never want it to end.”
In Nadya’s case it isn’t going to end just yet. Although she had never been to a regular season Green Bay Packers game before Sunday, she is going to her second game in just a week. With help from TODAY’S TMJ4, she hopes to have her prized ball signed by Charles Woodson.
