BROOKFIELD - The Children's Place store at Brookfield Square is reopened Wednesday after a Scabies scare. Customers say they just wish the store would have been more open about what exactly was going on.
Kelly Frank says she feels like she was misled by the Children's Place.
“I feel like they've spent two weeks trying to hide why they've been closed,” Frank told TMJ4's Shelley Walcott.

On October 3rd, frank noticed the Brookfield Children's Place was closed. One staff member told her it was because of remodeling. Another said it was a computer crash.
After a call to corporate, Frank discovered the real reason: two Brookfield workers had contracted Scabies, a highly contagious skin disease, and the store was being fumigated.
“They went above and beyond the call of duty to clean up,” Waukesha County Health and Human Services’ Peter Schuler said.

The county health director says, while irritating, Scabies are no worse than lice. It is spread by a microscopic mite, and causes a rash and severe itching.
“It is easily treated, easily diagnosed and is usually passed by a person who has it to others by skin to skin contact but not through clothing or other means,” Schuler said.
In a statement to TODAY’S TMJ4, the store's corporate office said “they closed the Brookfield store for cleaning, all their associates have been cleared to return to work, and the store has been stocked with brand new merchandise for it's reopening Wednesday.”
Mall management wouldn't let us inside with our camera, but there were a lot of people shopping inside the newly reopened store.
Kelly Frank was one of them.
“We did buy clothes there today. I will throw them through the washer just as a precaution, but we'll continue to shop,” Frank said.
Management at Children's Place say they've replaced all the clothes in the store and they say they are reopened for regular business hours.
The Waukesha Health Department is urging people with questions about Scabies to call them at (262) 896-8430.
