MOUNT PLEASANT – A Dunkin Donuts employee in Mount Pleasant got busted after she stole from a customer with special needs. When you go through any drive-thru at a fast food restaurant, you expect the cashier to take your money. What you don’t expect, is for that cashier to rob you blind. That’s exactly what happened to Adonis Blakemore when he went to a Mount Pleasant Dunkin Donuts. “He went up there for the donuts and she took it upon herself to take advantage of him,” Tameka Hicks was the cashier on duty. Police say she saw that Adonis had special needs and then proceeded to take $900 from him. A lot of money, for just a dozen glazed donuts. “Usually the business gets robbed, not the customer,” Police say Adonis walked up to the Dunkin Donuts and ordered some donuts from Tameka. He then reached into his pocket and grabbed a wad of money. They say Tameka grabbed the money from him and never gave it back. “I was just paying for them donuts and she grabbed it,” “There wasn’t nothing that he could do. They are basically telling him to get away from the drive-thru and it was like he was helpless,” In the criminal complaint, Hicks claimed Adonis gave her the money. She said she knew it was wrong, but she spent it anyway on rent and new clothes for her kids. Hicks was arrested and Adonis plans to testify against her. He says he hopes she understands what she did was wrong. “I would tell her she messed with the wrong person,” Tameka Hicks has been fired from the Dunkin Donuts. She is in jail right now, and could face up to 12 years in prison.
