Sensenbrenner Wins Lottery Again
By Katie DeLong
MILWAUKEE - Chalk up more lottery winnings for Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner.
The Republican from Menomonee Falls won $1,000 Aug. 30 playing a Wisconsin lottery game, and that followed another $1,000 prize he won last spring in the state lottery.
That's pocket change compared with the $250,000 jackpot he won on a $2 ticket in the District of Columbia lottery in 1997.
"I got lucky," Sensenbrenner said when asked in Washington about his latest winnings.
Sensenbrenner, 64, is an heir to the Kimberly-Clark fortune and reported his net worth at $11.6 million last March in a financial disclosure.
He said he spends about $10 a week on lottery tickets.
The latest winnings came when he entered a Super 2nd Chance drawing. To enter, people mail at least $5 in losing tickets to go for the $1,000 prize in a drawing every Thursday. There are 10 of the prizes.
Lottery officials put the odds of winning at 1 in 5,000 if Sensenbrenner entered once.
