22 Injured in Kenosha Bus vs. Car Crash

By Katie DeLong & Erin Drew Kent

KENOSHA – Twenty two students were injured as a result of a bus vs. car accident in Kenosha Wednesday afternoon. It happened on 39th Avenue south of Bradford High School. There were a total of 45 Bradford students on the bus. Twenty of them went to the hospital with minor injuries. Witnesses say a car going south bound swerved and cut the bus off. The driver of the car was also a Bradford High School student. The driver, 17-year-old Jorian Williams, was trapped in his car for an hour and a half. Firefighters got him out as Flight for Life was waiting on the front lawn of a nearby business to take him to Children's Hospital. While on the stretcher, he gave the crowd of onlookers a thumbs up and they applauded. He remains in serious condition. Most of the students injured on the bus were back in class Thursday. Allysa Weirsun went to school on crutches. "I was really shaken up after the whole thing and I was like in tears really scared," Weirsun said. Counselors were on hand, but administrators said students were taking the whole thing pretty well.
