Archive: Support Team Four in Pewaukee Triathlon

By Charles Benson

MILWAUKEE - The Pewaukee Triathlon is Sunday, July 15, and our team needs your help getting across the finish line. This year, the TODAY'S TMJ4 Triathlon Team of Courtny Gerrish, Heather Shannon, Michael George and Charles Benson is raising money for the MACC Fund which helps kids with cancer. It has been a long road to recovery for 17-year-old Brandon Novack. Four years ago he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He never lost hope but he did lose some of his childhood. "It has been a rough couple of years, not being able to do stuff with my friends, sitting on the sidelines and missing school," Novack said. We watched Brandon go through the trials and tribulations of cancer-from enduring losing his hair to more than 100 weeks of treatment. Through it all the MACC Fund, Midwest Athletes for Childhood Cancer, was there every step of the way. For the MACC Fund it's all about offering help to young children and Brandon says if it weren't for the MACC Fund he wouldn't be here. Brandon is now a cancer survivor and he's thinking about his future. "I've been around doctors and medicine and all that stuff and I don't want to be in a hospital anymore but I love sports and being an off field doctor would be pretty awesome," Novack said. Brandon's mom is proud of her son's progress. "Certainly we appreciate all the efforts you are doing to help the MACC Fund and trying to help kids with cancer," Brandon's mom said.
