Shuttle Services Announced for Summerfest
By Jenn Rourke
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County Transit System and the Ozaukee County Express are once again planning shuttle services to Summerfest.
MCTS offers several choices for those wanting a route to Summerfest, Thursday, June 28 to Sunday, July 8.
Riders can drive or take a bus to the downtown area and take a shuttle to the Summerfest North Gate. Those farther out can park at one of 11 park-ride lots and take a Freeway Flyer to the Summerfest Mid-Gate, while those traveling from north of Milwaukee can take the Ozaukee County Express.
Downtown Shuttle Service:
The Shuttle operates along Wisconsin Ave. from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. every day during Summerfest and provides service to the North Gate. Stops will be made every five to 10 minutes at bus stops with the
Summerfest smile logo along Wisconsin Ave., between 6th St. and N.
Jackson St. inbound to Summerfest. Leaving Summerfest, stops will be
made along Wisconsin Ave. between Cass St. and 10th St.
Those parking away from Summerfest will have access to the freeway with less traffic when they leave downtown. Individuals going north, south or west can enter I-43 from 6th and McKinley.
Round trip adult fare is $3.00 while children, seniors and disabled persons with ID pay $1.50 round trip. Riders can still use a valid transfer or weekly pass as fare. Also, more than 10 regular MCTS routes travel to the downtown area, from which riders can connect to a shuttle.
Freeway Flyer:
Freeway Flyers operate from 11 park-ride lots to Summerfest’s Main Gate. Flyers provide service on weekdays, every half hour on the hour and on the half hour from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and every 15 minutes from 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, service is every 15-20 minutes.
