David Emiley Arsenal Found in Felon's HomeBy Rob Lowry
WAUKESHA - A convicted felon in Waukesha is accused of having numerous weapons inside his apartment. Police discovered David Emiley’s stash after he accidentally discharged a gun into his neighbor’s apartment. No one was hurt.
Police say between his apartment and a nearby storage trailer, Emiley had three handguns, an assault rifle, a sawed-off shotgun, a shotgun, silencers and ammunition. They also found him with pepper spray, rope, knives and rubber gloves. As a felon, Emiley is not allowed to have firearms.
Emiley’s neighbor, Candy Rex, said she thinks he was up to no good. “He was planning on doing something crazy,” she told TODAY’S TMJ4 reporter Lauren Leamanczyk. Rex lives right next door to the apartment the bullet pierced. She’s worried that if the gun discharged differently, it could have struck her 3-year-old son.
Other neighbors say Emiley was quiet and rarely responded to neighbors when they greeted him. Alex Gilligan said he sensed something slightly unnerving about Emiley. “He looked like deep inside, he was angry,” Gilligan said.
Emiley’s previous felony conviction is for a computer crime. His criminal background shows no record of violence. Waukesha police are looking at his computers for clues.
Emiley is charged with seven counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of possession of a firearm silencer and one count of possession of improvised explosives.
