Local NewsTanning Mom In CourtBy Jonathan Vigliotti
SHEBOYGAN - A Sheboygan mom accused of leaving her kids in a cold car so she could go tanning appeared in court Monday. Friends of Lori Yeager say she is a great mother who loves her children. Now it's up to Yeager and her lawyer to prove that to the judge.
With husband and lawyer by her side, Yeager pleaded not guilty to two charges of child neglect. On Feb. 8, police say Yeager tanned for more than twenty minutes at a Sheboygan Cost Cutters while her two children waited in her freezing car. The temperatures outside was just 10 degrees. Yeager was arrested after two teens called 911.
When asked by TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Jonathan Vigliotti if she regretted her decision, Yeager refused to comment, but her lawyer did.
"Mrs. Yeager is a wonderful mother. The fact that the D.A. has decided to prosecute this charge is a travesty for her and her family," said John Dobogai.
A close friend said Yeager is a great mother and regrets her decision.
"She is saying that she made a hasty decision," said Stephanie Medinger.
Yeager has said her husband was supposed to pick the children up while she tanned. Police say the father had no idea where the children were.
Yeager's next court date is in March.
