Local NewsBo's Buddies Wish Her the BestBy Charles Benson
MILWAUKEE - When Bo Black ran Summerfest there were lots of people who were on the "Bo Bandwagon" and for one group of guys, Bo was a big part of their Summerfest tradition.
If Bo Black was synonymous with Summerfest, the Brian Maney would be symbolic of a super fan. "I've missed two days in the 39 years of Summerfest. People don't believe it."
Loud shirts! Loud music! Lots of fun! That's what Summerfest was all about to Maney and his buddies and Bo loved it. Maney first met Bo in 1991. "We just started taking pictures in 1991. Here's a shot of her and me."
Year after year, Bo would stop by to see the guys. "That's one on my favorites," he tells TMJ4's Charles Benson. "There she really seemed in good spirits."
Now they want to see her get well. "When I heard that the other day it devastated me. We love her very much."
But something Bo said to Carole Meekins in an interview last November really hit Maney. "When Carole did the report in November about never coming back to Milwaukee again that sort of hit, like boy oh boy we won't see Bo anymore! That made me sad too."
