Mother Faces Two Charges Of Child Neglect

By Jonathan Vigliotti

SHEBOYGAN - A Sheboygan mother was busted for lying in a tanning bed while her two children were left to wait in a freezing car. Police say 27-year-old Lori Yeager admitted to making a poor decision. She left her 23-month-old and 10-year-old sons alone in her car Thursday night while she tanned at a Sheboygan Cost Cutters for 20 minutes. "They were chilled. They did have some goose bumps on there skin that was exposed," Sheboygan Police Lt. Mike Williams said Friday. Teenagers Tequila Allen and Brandi Dillard were walking in the shopping center parking lot when they spotted the two children in the unlocked car. The children were unsupervised and the car was turned off. With the temperature at just 10 degrees, they alerted the police. "It was way cold outside and they could have froze. What would happen if it was two days ago and it was negative how many degrees out?" Allen asked TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Jonathan Vigliotti. The two girls say Yeager is lucky they found the children instead of someone else. "I could have just went in there and took the kids away from her and she wouldn't have known... until she came out from tanning. That's awful," said Allen. Yeager was arrested and released after getting a citation. She claimed her husband was supposed to pick her children up. Vigliotti went to Yeager's house to try and talk with her but no one was home. She reportedly left for California early Friday morning. Fortunately, neither child was hurt in any way. The district attorney was expected to review the case Saturday. Yeager could face two charges of child neglect.
