$50,000 Vandalism to Fox Point Home

By Mick Trevey

FOX POINT - Vandals went on a destructive rampage through a Fox Point house. Police estimate it will cost $50,000 to repair the damage. Holes were kicked in the walls, paint was splattered on the walls and a big-screen TV was smashed. The damages were major and were visible from outside the house Tuesday. Fox Point police report a long list of problems caused by the vandals. Sinks were ripped off the walls, granite kitchen counter tops were ripped off and smashed and couch cushions were slashed. The vandals also plugged the bathroom drains and left the water running so that the water overflowed. Several inches of standing water were found in the basement by a real estate agent who went to the home to show it to a potential buyer the home over the weekend. The home was listed for $1,550,000 with Coldwell Banker real estate agent Margo Winter. Winter would not answer questions about the vandalism and dropped the listing late Tuesday afternoon. The home is located at 6702 N. Lake Drive in Fox Point. The home is owned by D'Araun Brown. Fox Point village records show he bought the house in September of 2005. The real estate agent who listed the house in 2005 said Brown bought the house as an investment and did not intend to live there. She indicated he planned to fix up the house and sell it to make a profit. Records show Brown has a history of buying and selling properties. Neighbors said they had not noticed people living at the home, and that it has been for sale for "a while." Brown was not at his Brown Deer home Tuesday. Neighbors said he was out of town. The home showed signs that no one had been there for several days. The mailbox was so stuffed with mail that the mailbox door was hanging open. Fox Point Village Board Member Sandy Garner drove by the vandalized home Tuesday afternoon to see the site. She was surprised by what happened. "I’m really shocked to hear about the vandalism – and feel that there are some motives there that none of us will ever know, perhaps," she said. Fox Point police said they did not have any suspects.
