Goat Breaks Into Dodge County Home

  • Print
WESTFIELD - Sherry Shirley's Town of Westfield kitchen is clean now, but that wasn't the case on Saturday, when a goat broke in. Sherry says she was baking a cake for her husband for Valentine's Day when she heard her dogs barking hysterically outside. The cake was hot, and her counter was full, so she took the cake with her as she went to check it out. "From nowhere, a goat charged me. My cake went flying, and he rammed into me, and I was pushed against the house," Sherry said. From there, the enraged goat opened the door with his horns, and went on a rampage in the kitchen. "It was a mess," Sherry said. "There was everything all over the counter, the walls." Sherry tried to keep the goat from hurting anyone, or anything, else. "I tried to grab him by his horns and the goat fought. I had to call 911 for assistance to help me get the goat out of my house," she said. Together they were able to remove the goat. Sherry learned it belongs to a neighbor just down the road, where we found it caged securely today. Sherry says the neighbor offered to pay for all the damages the goat caused, but she says she felt worse for the owner than for herself, so she declined the offer. Sherry wasn't seriously hurt, and says she hopes this will never happen again. She also says that since she lives on Beaver Dam Lake and not in a rural or farm area, the only animals she usually sees are geese or deer.
