MILWAUKEE - Investigators are still looking for the people who shot and killed a young woman and wounded two others Friday night, and the Milwaukee Police Department is using a new technique to find the gunmen.

The three young women were eating pizza on a porch near 24th and McKinley when someone opened fire, injuring two and killing 19 year-old Jordan Alvarez.

"This particular homicide we believe it is gang-related," said Milwaukee Police Asst. Chief James Harpole.

This homicide will be the first in which Milwaukee Police will use a new method of investigating major crimes. The "Organized Crime Division' aims to share information faster and more effectively within the force, working not just to solve the crime but prevent future crimes.

"Not only to solve the homicide and bring those individuals to justice but also look into other crimes committed by these individuals here and truly get to the bottom of what's happening in this neighborhood," Harpole explained. "We are kind of getting the story behind the story."

The Department is pulling together officers with many different specialties to make it work, and already have a lot of leads and an idea of who they are looking for.

"It's a very labor-intensive task but it's something that entails a large variety of expertise and the department futunately has a lot of," said Milwaukee Police Officer Anthony Smith.

MPD continues to have an expanded presence in the neighborhood where the shooting took place.
