Local NewsGorilla Head Theft Suspect Pleads Not GuiltyAPPLETON, Wis. (AP) -- The two Minnesota men accused of stealing the head from a mechanical gorilla in Appleton last year are heading to trial. The defense attorneys on Tuesday entered not-guilty pleas for 28-year-old John Jenness Jr. of Minneapolis and 24-year-old Jesse Varga of Edina. Their trials were scheduled for May 5. The mechanical head disappeared Thanksgiving Day from outside Balloon Magic/Gorilla Grams. A YouTube posting and anonymous tip led police to a Minneapolis home where they found it. The head was returned, reattached and put back outside the store. However, the owner says damage made the gorilla unable to wave. No number could be found for Varga on Tuesday. Messages for Jenness and both defense attorneys weren't immediately returned. ------ Information from: The Post-Crescent, http://www.postcrescent.com (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
