MILWAUKEE - Imagine applying for a job and trying making an honest living, only to learn your personal information was stolen from the place you wanted to work.

That's what prosecutors say happened at the Rainbow apparel store at 10th and Mitchell.

Nataly Siharath was in court Tuesday charged with ID theft. According to the criminal complaint, she was a manager at the Rainbow store for several years.

She's accused of taking applications from the store and giving that personal information to a former employee, Lacrecia Thomas, who was also charged.

Siharath is also accused of giving personal information about current and former employees of the business to Thomas.

“People can't make an honest living so they have to steal for it, you know, they just give a bad name to people that's trying to be good in life,” Mitchell street shopper Tyus Safford said.

The complaint said Thomas opened up credit cards and checking accounts under the names of the unsuspecting victims. Postal inspectors uncovered the thefts. They noticed a large number of credit cards going to Thomas’s house.

The two women were arrested.

According to Siharath's statement, she took the information to help Thomas and claims she never took any of the money.

People shopping on Mitchell Street think the crime of stealing from people trying to make an honest living is disgusting.

“That's crazy, I mean, as it is, it’s hard to get a job, you know, unemployment rates are ridiculously high so to come and apply somewhere and try to get a job and for something like that to happen that's ridiculous,” shopper Christina Rosario said.

Neither women works at the Rainbow store any longer. The company did not wish to comment.
