Boyfriend Arrested For Killing 18-Year-Old Woman

Tom Murray

MILWAUKEE - A teen was murdered early Saturday in her east side apartment only one month before she planned to start college at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.

Eighteen-year-old Lauren Aljubouri just graduated from Arrowhead High School in Hartland and planned to start studies at UWM this fall. She was already living near the campus with her 18-year-old boyfriend.

Family members are still very much in shock. They say Lauren's boyfriend strangled her, taking the life of a talented young woman.

"Lauren was hard working, she had her life on track, she was a very talented musician, artist,” Lauren’s sister Brittany Aljubouri told TODAY’S TMJ4 reporter Tom Murray.

Lauren died in her apartment in the 2400 block of N. Frederick Avenue early Saturday morning. Milwaukee police said Lauren's boyfriend called a friend, admitted he hurt Lauren and then that friend called authorities.

Neighbor Mike Johnson heard the police in the hall.

“I got up to see what was going on,” recounted Johnson. “There were two cops standing there, guns drawn, pounding on the door, saying, ‘Let us in or we're going to kick it in.’"

The 18-year-old suspect is in custody. After his arrest, police took him to the hospital to be treated for undisclosed injuries.

Visitation for Lauren Aljubouri will be Friday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Evert-Luko Funeral Home, 170 Warren Avenue in Hartland.

The service will be Saturday, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a get together brunch at St. Charles Church, 526 Renson Road, Hartland.
