It wasn’t a big one, and it was only on the ground for a few minutes, but it left its mark, particularly near Sheboygan Falls.
Cleanup continued Thursday all across Sheboygan County. Almost everywhere you looked, you could see downed trees and power lines, and some people even witnessed the tornado tear through.
Dispatcher: “Emergency dispatch.”
Caller: “A tornado just touched down.”
Dispatcher: “Where?”
Caller: “Right off of 32.”
That was one of the first callers to report that a tornado touched down in Sheboygan Falls. It left a lot of destruction behind.
The twister tore the roof off a barn and knocked down a silo.
Heavy rain and strong winds caused just as much damage across the rest of the county. Mark Ziemke has been cleaning up for hours.
TODAY’S TMJ4’s Melissa McCrady: “What were your thoughts when you saw all the damage?”
“I couldn’t believe it,” Ziemke said.
The same storm uprooted a tree, downed power lines and knocked a tree onto a jeep.
“Basically trees down, a couple cars damaged,” Ziemke said.
Ziemke is sad to see the trees that shaded his backyard lie in a pile of rubble.
“I planted that tree when it was 10 years old, so that tree’s about 43 years old and now it’s shot,” Ziemke said.
The only injury blamed on Wednesday's storms was to an 81-year-old Plymouth woman, who was knocked over by a wind blown door at a Kmart store.
