KENOSHA - Police are on the hunt for two men who tied up and attacked hotel clerks, then robbed them.

The armed robberies happened in Racine and Kenosha counties early Wednesday morning.

Gunshots rang out during one of the holdups.

The most recent robbery happened at the Best Western at I-94 and Highway 50 in Kenosha. Police say the clerk was beaten so badly that he had to go to the hospital.

The first robbery happened early Wednesday at a Holiday Inn Express in Mount Pleasant.

Police say two men tied up the clerk, fired a gunshot, and then fled with cash.

A short time later, Kenosha police believe the same two gunmen stormed the Best Western. One suspect displayed a black handgun while the second man took the cash from a cash draw.

When the 27-year-old clerk couldn’t open the safe, police said the robbers beat him in the head with a gun.

“I think it’s terrible,” Best Western guest Rebecca Porter said.

“While I’m sleeping upstairs, this man is being robbed and anything could’ve happened. They could’ve taken keys and broken into rooms,” Porter said.

Porter is so shaken up, she’s returning home.

“I’m not coming back later, thank God. I’m going home,” Porter said.

The clerk was taken to the hospital for facial injuries and a cut to his scalp. He was too shaken up to return to work.

Police are investigating a possible connection to 10 other hotel robberies that have happened in the Milwaukee area dating back to February.

Kenosha Police described the first suspect as a black man in his mid 20's with a short hair cut, possibly a shaved head; 5’7” with an athletic build; and wearing a white t-shirt, dark shorts, and white gym shoes.

The second suspect is described as possibly a light skinned black or Hispanic male; early 20s, 6’ tall with an athletic build; and wearing a long sleeved gray shirt, dark colored shorts, and a white t-shirt over his face.

Anyone with information should call the Kenosha Police Department Detective Bureau at 262-605-5203. Those wishing to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000 may call Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.
