Storm Brings Down 37 Year Old Tree In Waukesha

WAUKESHA - Monday morning storms left big marks on southeast Wisconsin.
After a beautiful holiday weekend, Monday, many people were left with cleaning up destruction in their yards.
For one neighborhood in Waukesha, the winds and rain really wrecked homes.
Many trees are down and one family couldn’t even get inside their home.
Thousands in Waukesha still didn’t have power Monday evening, and the cleanup is just beginning for many families.
Instead of trying to start his summer vacation as planned, James Hemburg is trying to start his chainsaw.
"Branches fell on the roof. We have roof damage there to the right. All our gutters are ruined. Then it fell onto my Buick Century here. It wiped out the back fence. Not much left of that,” Hemburg said.
Monday morning's heavy rains and straight line winds knocked out power to Hemburg’s entire neighborhood, took down trees, snapped power lines, closed roads and left a huge mess.
Just a couple of blocks away a giant tree fell onto two cars.
All that's left of the big pine tree Elisabeth Gean and her late husband planted 37 years ago is firewood and a giant hole in her front yard.
"I seen the tree, and I thought I was going into shock. I actually had tears. I had a cry. I was just really upset you know,” Gean said.
Now, as the entire neighborhood cleans up what Mother Nature left behind, Hemburg realizes being at work may be better than what he'll be dealing with this week.
"Perfect. Perfect vacation plans here. No luck here,” Hemburg said.
The good news is that despite all of the damage, no one was hurt.
