WAUKESHA COUNTY – Parents are on alert after three different children in Waukesha County say a stranger tried to entice them into a vehicle.

Police don't think the cases are related, so authorities are searching for three different suspects.

What police say happened in one New Berlin neighborhood is a reminder for all of us: don't take anything for granted, keep an eye on your kids even if they're just playing in the driveway.

It's a lesson you can't teach your kids too often, no matter how young they are.

TODAY’S TMJ4’s Aaron Diamant: “What are you supposed to do when a stranger talks to you?”

“Run away,” 5-year-old Nick Ross said.

Waukesha county kids went three for three when it happened to them in recent weeks.

Twice, men stopped their cars to talk to kids playing in driveways in two different Delafield subdivisions: Somerset Moors and High Ridge. Both were white men, one in a rusty van, the other in an SUV.

The most serious case happened last Wednesday in the 13300 block of West Nicolet Street in New Berlin.

"I was surprised that somebody would be that blatant,” New Berlin Police Officer Tony Pine said.

Police say a man in a pick-up pulled into a driveway where two brothers, ages 11 and 6 were playing basketball. He asked their names and if they wanted a ride. So cliché, it left neighbors stunned.

"It's very scary. As a parent you try to educate your kids,” Scott Ross said.

TODAY’S TMJ4’s Aaron Diamant did speak to the New Berlin boys’ father. He said he didn't want to go on television because this guy’s still out there. He did say he's very proud of the way his boys reacted.

"It seems the kids in this case did the right thing, got away from the car, went to a safe place in the neighborhood, and got a pretty good description of the vehicle,” Officer Pine said.

Police describe the man as a white male in his 50's, heavy-set, balding, with a grey moustache, a thick European accent, and driving a red Toyota pickup.

Investigators are still looking into whether the three cases are related. Anyone with information should call the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department or New Berlin police.
