Woman sues after Milwaukee cop's sexual assault
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A woman who says she was sexually assaulted by a Milwaukee police officer when he responded to her 911 call three years ago is suing the officer, the police department, the police chief and the city.
A Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report says the civil lawsuit accuses Officer Ladmarald Cates of violating the woman's civil rights and leaving her with emotional distress. The suit also alleges that police officials and the city violated her civil rights by failing to properly discipline Cates for previous violations.
Cates been fired from the police department. He's serving a 24-year prison term.
Police spokesman Mark Stanmeyer says he can't comment. A message left for Milwaukee City Attorney Grant Langley on Friday wasn't immediately returned.
