Woman arrested with BAC more than 3 times the legal limit with four children in the car
MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle with suspended plates Monday night, just before midnight, on Sherman Boulevard near North Avenue.
The deputy noted a strong smell of alcohol from the driver, Keshia R. Spikes, 24 of Milwaukee, who tested a .26 BAC, more than three times the legal limit.
Spikes had a 26-year-old female passenger as well as four children, ages 2, 4, 6, and 8 in the car. Two of them were her children, and two were the passenger’s children.
Child Protective Services could not find a member of Spikes' family to pick up her children, so a caseworker picked them up around 4:00 a.m. Tuesday. An adult picked up the passenger's children at the scene.
Spikes is being charged with Operating While Intoxicated with Passenger Under 16 Years of Age, a misdemeanor. She faces up to six months imprisonment if convicted. Spikes is also being held for a felony Violation of Probation stemming from a July 2011 case on child neglect and drug trafficking charges.
