WEST ALLIS - Authorities say a man suspected of driving a vehicle that hit and killed a 6-year-old girl this week had been deported in February.

The West Allis Police Department also says 29-year-old Jose A. Rodriguez's license had been revoked.

Authorities say Monday's accident that killed Mackenzie Maddox of West Allis is still being investigated. Her mother -- 25-year-old Andrea Maddox -- was injured but not seriously.

They say a check of FBI records shows the Kenosha man was deported in February to Mexico.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement is investigating and has placed a hold on the man. He's in the custody of the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

Prosecutors are charging him with misdemeanor driving with a revoked license, causing death. He could also face deportation back to Mexico.
