Wis. deputy recovering from roadside crash
PORTAGE, Wis. (AP) -- A sheriff's deputy in southern Wisconsin is out of the hospital after a motorist crashed into his patrol car.
Columbia County sheriff's Deputy Michael Schultz was helping drivers who had slid off Interstate 39-90-94 Monday night. Schultz had just returned to his squad car on the shoulder of the freeway when another motorist lost control and crashed into the driver's side of the patrol car.
Schultz was treated and released from a hospital. He will be off work until his doctor re-evaluates him.
The 19-year-old La Crosse woman who crashed into the deputy's car was not hurt.
The sheriff's office says the patrol car's emergency lights were on at the time of the crash.
