WAUKESHA - According to new information, Waukesha County Sheriff's deputies now believe two cars struck and killed a woman who walked across an interstate.
Deputies say Denise Merkel was outside her car that broke down earlier in March on I-43 near County Highway H and Racine Avenue in New Berlin.
She attempted to cross lanes of traffic before she was struck and killed.
Sheriff's investigators said Monday that Merkel's body was on the ground when another vehicle ran her over.
Emergency crews tried to save Merkel's life, but the 54-year-old woman from Sussex died.
Now, deputies are searching for a second car.
Waukesha County Sheriff's officials ask you to call them if you have any information.
